The pandemic was a difficult experience for all of us. However, there was a silver lining in this darkness. Many people volunteered to support each other in these difficult times: neighbours helping neighbours, bankers, teachers and unemployed cooking food for the NHS workers, ordinary people doing extraordinary things, donating their time, efforts and money. There were no strangers here, and hardly anyone stayed indifferent. We want to cement this feeling of togetherness that shone so brightly in the pandemic by making it a tradition to celebrate the UK Community Day on the 23 March every year.
