Andrew set up Ashton Churches Together (ACT) in 2012 in anticipation of the introduction of Universal Credit. Since then he has organised local community volunteers to provide thousands of parcels for all those referred by the town’s Job Centre Plus, social workers, health visitors, doctors, police, schools, family centre, faith leaders and others in a position to know about those in crisis. The Food Bank is open one day a week for collections, but provides emergency parcels for those in immediate need or who cannot get to the Food Bank. During the recent lockdowns, ACT has delivered widely to those who have been shielding. Andrew’s work involves collecting from supermarkets by arrangement with FareShare and sourcing other donations from a variety of local businesses etc, in order to protect and help the most vulnerable in the community. htpps://
